Daniel Craig's next film has its first trailer at last, and if you'd been wondering whether he'd take a time-out from Bond with another extremely committed American accent as he did with Logan Lucky, you're in luck.

Knives Out is a country house whodunnit pitched somewhere between An Inspector Calls, Gosford Park and The Big Lebowski, with Craig playing Detective Benoit Blanc.

"The idea was to take everything I love about a great Agatha Christie story and put it into a new original story set in modern-day America," director Rian Johnson, who also did Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Looper, told Entertainment Weekly. "That’s kind of the essence of it."

In the manner of the grand old mystery thrillers of yore like Sidney Lumet's Murder On the Orient Express, Craig's joined by a pretty storming ensemble cast. Ana de Armas, who'll join him in Bond 25 playing a woman called Paloma, is here, as are former Captain America Chris Evans on wise-cracking arsehole form and a particularly cantankerous Michael Shannon. Then there's Jamie Lee Curtis, Sorry To Bother You's Lakeith Stanfield, an imperiously snippy Toni Colette and Christopher Plummer as the family patriarch.

It's Plummer's Harlan Thrombey who cops it early doors, and his entire family are suspects in his demise. "Harlan has built this massive empire up and he has a group of kids and their families who are all adults and who all to one degree or another live based on his success," Johnson explained. "When the family fortune is kind of in question or up for grabs, that’s when the proverbial knives come out."

There's also a quite gigantic wheel of many, many knives on display in the family homestead. Might want to keep an eye on that too.
