Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have appeared at a joint engagement, their first from their new home in Santa Barbara.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex participated in a Zoom call with the Queen's Commonwealth Trust to discuss using digital as a force for good.

They were joined by four young activists who have all launched campaigns, organisations and charities largely helped by social media and digital activism.

This is the first time the couple have appeared together from their new home. Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the couple confirmed they had relocated from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, slightly upstate on the coast of California in July.

Meghan, who wore a sleeveless patterned top, and Harry who was sporting a trademark white shirt, could be seen in front of cream walls, large windows, a hanging leafy green houseplant and what looks like a stone fireplace.

During the interesting discussion, the couple spoke about their continuing work with the trust and how the activists are looking to promote positivity, truthfulness and resources in a digital world that can sadly also be a space for fake news and hatred.

At the end of the call, Harry joked that the future was in the activists' hands, jesting with Meghan that they were "way too old," leading the former Suits actor to chide her husband, saying: "You've got to stop, we're not old". to which their fellow callers laughed.

When Harry then mentioned that it was the world the young activists were going to inherit, Meghan added that it was also true for their son Archie, while Harry agreed, smiling.

Harry and Meghan have continued working with the Queen's Commonwealth Trust despite stepping back as senior working royals and becoming financially independent from the royal family at the start of the year.

During the chat, Harry praised the Queen while Meghan spoke of her pride at being able to work with the QCT and continue "the legacy of your grandmother," motioning to her husband of two years.
