The José Mourinho-Antonio Conté feud has ended according to the Man United manager, who has said the two grown men realised after their fixture in February that mocking each other is a waste of everyone's time and called it quits.

"He [Conte] stretched out, I stretched, we got bored [of arguing]," Mourinho told Record.

"After the game here in Manchester, I invited him to come to my office. We talked, nothing’s wrong."

While this removes a little needle from Saturday's FA Cup final, their spat hasn't exactly been one for the ages.

Conté called Mourinho a "little man" and a "fake", Mourinho jabbed about allegations of match-fixing which have dogged Conté and said he looked like a clown. Fans are unlikely to become dewy-eyed at reminiscences of the time Conté knocked 'em dead with his line about not wanting "a Mourinho season" last summer.

Ah well. At least we'll always have the calculated post-match press conference misdirections from middling performances to look forward to.
