Where were you during the Oxford Circus ‘terrorist attack’ of November 2017, when a false alarm launched London’s West End into chaos?

Olly Murs was half a mile away, calling for calm amongst his 7.8 million Twitter followers.

"F**k everyone get out of Selfridges now, gun shots! I'm inside."

It later transpired that the suspected tube attack was nothing more than a fight between two men that triggered a domino-effect of panic in the surrounding area.

Needless to say, Olly Murs was roundly mocked for the series of hysterical, Call of Duty-esque tweets he sent from the Selfridges stock-room. He was even criticised for scaremongering in some corners, but the 33-year-old has so far refused to back down in embarrassment.

In fact, if you ask Olly, we’re not being told the whole story about that fateful day.

Talking to The Sun, the pop star said, “I ran into an office after being told by the staff of Selfridges that someone was there with a gun,”

“Whether they were shooting into the air or whatever, something happened that day – whether it was covered up, I don’t know.”

He added: “Something happened, it was a bit of murky situation.”

Yep, it looks like this one goes right to the very top (floor of Selfridges). Murs says he has been receiving ridicule every day since the incident, but believes he could just as easily have been hailed as a hero.

“Well, next time you’re in Selfridges and that happens to you, I’ll message you and say, ‘How was that? How do you feel now? You’re not Mr Brave now, are you?’” said Murs.

“If I’d done it and someone had been shooting, you’d all be sitting here now going, ‘You know what, Olly, you’ve done well.’”

From the X Factor to InfoWars. Who could have seen that coming?
