The Oscar nominations for the 2020 ceremony are finally here, and as with previous years there are a few surprises thrown in among the big hitters that everyone's been banging on and on (and on) about for the last six months.
It's a big moment. It's the point at which the arguments – over whether Joker is the greatest achievement of the last 130 years of filmmaking or basically just fine, and whether the Academy actually takes women and people of colour seriously – transform into three weeks of screaming matches, up until the day of the ceremony itself.
