Midfield maestro Paul Pogba has revealed why he chose Manchester over Madrid in 2016.

United had already let the French international out of their grasp once, when he moved on a free transfer to Juventus in 2012, and they weren’t about to let it happen again.

But Pogba gave some serious thought to Real Madrid’s offer too, revealing to the ‘Beyond the Pitch’ podcast that it was a difficult decision to make.

"To be honest, Real Madrid came to me and I was thinking to go there, and I was thinking to go to Manchester United too."

In the end, it was Pogba’s past ties to Man Utd that ultimately led him back.

"But I always felt it in my heart. My heart told me to come back here, I don't know why, I didn't know what was going to happen. But I did it, and I don't regret. I never regret my choice."

Did he make the right decision? Real Madrid went on the conquer La Liga that season, while Manchester United are still struggling to reach their potential. At 24, a move to Real won’t be off the cards for a long time yet.
