Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has delivered an exciting update on the gangster drama's sixth series.

Starring Cillian Murphy as Birmingham hard nut Tommy Shelby – the leader of real-life 1900's gang The Peaky Blinders – the BBC show has grown in popularity with the release of each series, and Knight recently spoke to BBC about what he's been up to.

"I've just finished writing series six and it's the best yet, but we always say that," he revealed. Though it's still yet to start shooting, and at least a year away from airing, it does bring season six a big step closer.

Knight's quotes came as the screenwriter received a CBE in the Queen's New Years Honours – recognised for services to drama, entertainment and the community in Birmingham.

"I am very honoured to receive this award and would like to think it might reflect on the people of Birmingham whose stories and spirit have informed a substantial part of my work," he said.
