On Saturday evening, only hours after a man walked into a synagogue in Pittsburgh and murdered 11 people, Donald Trump was at Southern Illinois Airport having decided to go ahead with a MAGA campaign rally.

Trump not only declined to cancel the event because "we can't let evil change our life", but also later joked he nearly cancelled the event because of “a bad hair day”.

He also chose to play Pharrell's 'Happy' at the rally, apparently unaware that the president blasting a song with the repeated refrain 'Because I'm happy' while a community was mourning a mass murder might be construed as insensitive.

Pharrell himself is just one person unhappy with the use of his track and has demanded he refrain from using his music.

“On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist,’ you played [Williams’] song ‘Happy’ to a crowd at a political event,” reads the letter from lawyer Howard King.

“There was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday, and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose. Demand is hereby made that you cease and desist from any further unauthorised use of Pharrell Williams’ music.”

Pharrell follows a long line of musicians including Adele, the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Queen and Aerosmith in publicly denouncing Trump and asking him to refrain from playing their music at his events.
