Ben Affleck's not likely to be playing Batman in the next film Warner Bros are planning to make about the vigilante billionaire beefcake.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the next Batman film will focus on a young Bruce Wayne rather than Affleck's grizzled, haggard, middle-aged Batman.

It's being put together by Matt Reeves, who also did Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes, and turned in the first act of a script at the end of May.

It also sounds like the Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix and written by Todd Phillips (The Hangover, War Dogs) is going to be launched under a slightly different banner to the rest of the DC universe.

The Hollywood Reporter suggests it'll be called something along the lines of "DC Dark" or "DC Black", which sound like either new releases from David Cameron's aftershave collection or two extremely glum coppers in an ITV procedural drama.

That doesn't mean that the Joker film starring Jared Leto isn't going ahead too though. That one's still in the works, and will take place in the same universe as Suicide Squad.
