Leonardo DiCaprio has just revealed the official poster to his forthcoming film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, on Instagram.

Like his past Internet-melting preview of the movie last June, it's a shot of him and fellow co-star Brad Pitt in the ninth (and supposedly penultimate) directorial outing for Quentin Tarantino.

In the poster DiCaprio and Pitt, who play "Rick Dalton, former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth" respectively, can be seen in front of a yellow sixties car with the backdrop of Hollywood in the distance.

No huge surprises here - it's not called Once Upon a Time in Cleveland after all - but it is nice to finally get another look at characters set to be gracing our screens on 14 August.

'Hollywood. 1969,' the actor captioned the shot, alluding to the setting of the film. Tarantino has stressed that the plot is centred around the Los Angeles city of that year, with the backdrop of the Manson murders providing a framework to the story.

Though, as the poster shows, the two lead roles are occupied by DiCaprio and Pitt, there's a large supporting cast packed to the rafters with A-list talent. Australian actor Damon Herriman will play murderous cult leader Charles Manson who, coincidentally, he will also appear as in the forthcoming season of Mindhunter. Not a bad person to be typecast as given the current vogue for serial killers.

There's also Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie as Manson victim Sharon Tate, and big name actors including Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Luke Perry, Damian Lewis, Emile Hirsch and Lena Dunham.

The official Instagram account has also shared further set images from the film, with one image of Pitt reclined on a golf buggy - the type used to shuttle stars around the backlots of sets in Hollywood - while wearing a pair of retro-looking aviators and a t-shirt in a similar shade of yellow to his ride. There's also a photo of DiCaprio vaulting a fence with a gun in hand and one of Robbie being filmed walking across a retro-fitted Hollywood street.
