Alan Partridge is back on the BBC gravy train, 24 long years after he accidentally shot a man dead on his live TV chat show.

The incident proved unpopular amongst the BBC hierarchy, and Alan failed to secure a much-deserved second season. He then spent the past score years and four laying into his old employer at every opportunity.

So it should come as no surprise that his shock arrival as the temporary co-host of BBC One chat show This Time has caused some controversy in Broadcasting House.

Alan has been quick to quash any Ill-feeling, though, sending this letter to concerned colleagues ahead of his glorious return tonight at 9.30pm on BBC One.

That should do the job. This Time, which will air every Monday, sees the return of Alan's Mid-Morning Matters sidekick Simon and his long-time assistant Lynn Benfield.
