Hopes were high heading into September's "State of Play" from Sony. Fans were anticipating that we’d finally get a look at the much-anticipated and leak-prone PS5, or some new information on The Last of Us Part II. Only one of those two things came true. PlayStation already has an absolutely stacked generation ahead of it with some of the most exciting exclusives (ie. The Last of Us Part II and Final Fantasy VII) still on the horizon, which is why these quick, 20-minute showcases never seem to hit on all of our hopes and wants. That being said, today's "State of Play" still gave use some cool new titles, an intense limited-edition console, and a stellar The Last of Us Part II reveal, not leaving us disappointed but rather wanting so much more. Here are the biggest announcements from Sony's "State of Play."

The Last of Us Part II

For the first time since E3 2018, when we got our initial look at it, The Last of Us 2 finally poked out its zombie-ridden head again. During the "State of Play," we got a seriously spooky look and spine-chilling listen to the infamous clickers in the barren, wintery setting—along with a climactic scream, proving that this entry is just as twisted and turvy as the last. Oh, and did we forget to mention that Joel's back? Rugged and defeated, but back, seemingly to help Ellie. This game is going to be a slam dunk, and I can’t wait to get more information on the apocalyptic story.

Humanity

Sony introduced Humanity, an absolutely wild-looking title filled with large scale battles, mazes, gorgeous art style, and intense gameplay mechanics. While the trailer was super vague, it definitely looks like this will be an exciting ride. And with a loose release date of 2020, there’s still plenty of time for more information to drop on this crazy game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The Modern Warfare reboot promises to be a return to the golden days of COD. Focusing heavily on the current struggles and ethics of waging war, the cinematic trailer shown promises a full and exciting story. Following the generally positive reception to the beta test this past week, this Modern Warfare reboot looks like it will return players to what they loved about Call of Duty in the first place. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on October 25.

L.A. Noire VR

This gorgeous detective title from Rockstar Games focuses on reading and interpreting interrogations, with a great story and interesting game mechanics. So honestly, it's no surprise that it's coming to PSVR, with a surprise launch date of...today. L.A. Noire VR is available to play right now on PlayStation VR.

Wattam

From the creators of Katamari comes an adorable title about reconnecting a myriad of wacky characters. From toilets to crowns, this solo or co-op adventure looks to be just as feel good—and wacky—as all of these creative genius games. Luckily, we won't have to wait long to play it, since Wattam arrives this December.

Death Stranding

Death Stranding got an awesome, limited edition PS4 Pro console, with a yellow controller that, fingers crossed, is sold separately. Death Stranding itself looks wild and promises to be one of this year's most ambitious releases. Both the game and the LE PS4 Pro are coming November 8.

Civilization VI

Sid Meier's Civilization VI is finally coming to PS4 to suck up all of your time with virtual diplomatic dealings and warfare on 22 November. It took long enough for this classic series to grace Sony fans.

MediEvil

The remaster of the classic PlayStation title got a special demo that's available today. As an added bonus, playing the demo unlocks a new helmet for the full game when it releases on 25 October.
