HBO bosses have done everything they can to stop Game of Thrones season 8 leaks, from self-detonating scripts to ‘Gestapo’-level set security, but they never accounted for Sophie 'loose cannon' Turner.
The actor recently revealed that she’d shared the series ending with friends. “I'm so bad at keeping secrets. I don't think people tell me things anymore because they know that I can't keep them,” she told W Magazine in January. "I was like, 'Hey, if you want to know, I’ll tell you.’”
Now, in a new joint interview with co-star Maisie Williams, Turner told Rolling Stone that she has a major series 8 spoiler hanging up in her flat.
It comes in the form of a storyboard of Sansa Stark’s very last scene in the show, which also happens to be Turner’s favourite. It was gifted by showrunners and co-creators David Benioff and DB Weiss.
On the long-awaited finale, Turner said: “I feel very satisfied with the ending of the entire show […] Every story arc came to a really good close.”
Turner also reacted to the backlash that came from making the big reveal to her friends, telling Entertainment Weekly: “I was on Twitter and saw these headlines like ‘Twitter followers are being so mean to Sophie Turner after reports she told her friends the ending of ‘Game of Thrones,’
“The truth is I’ve only told two people. It’s not that many. To be honest, I don’t read many of the mentions on Twitter because there’s normally quite a bit of hate. Everything I say will always have some negative reactions so I’m not surprised.”
Elsewhere, Maisie Williams has talked about what season 8 holds for Arya and Sansa.
"This season you see Arya teaming with Sansa and sometimes calling out Jon [Snow]," Maisie said. "It felt nice and powerful to stand next to Sophie.
"Sophie and I are the tightest of friends when sitting across from anyone, so no acting required."
