Robert Pattinson, Ben Mendelsohn and a host of other stars have signed on to star alongside Timothee Chalamet in Netflix’s upcoming period drama The King, according to Deadline.

Based on William Shakespeare’s Henry IV and V (underrated writer, check him out), Chalamet will play tousle-haired boy prince Hal, with Joel Edgerton starring as his “one true friend” Falstaff.

Sean Harris and Lily-Rose Depp will also appear in the Plan B-produced movie, which is being directed by War Machine’s David Michod.

The plot will follow Hal (AKA the future King Henry the V), who "inherits the crown and must learn what it means to be a king. Pattinson will play The Dauphin, a French duke, while Mendelsohn will wear the crown of King Henry IV.

Depp will star as Princess Catherine, Hal’s wife and daughter of the French king, in what will be her fifth film role.

The script was written by Michod and Edgerton (Willy Shakespeare’s words have been rightly binned), and production is set to begin on 1 June in the UK.
