According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kristen Stewart is confirmed to star in a reboot of Charlie's Angels directed by Elizabeth Banks.

British actresses Ella Balinska and Naomi Scott making up the rest of the ass-kicking trio.

Banks recently directed Pitch Perfect 2 and has starred in a long list of films and television shows including The Hunger Games, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Banks has written the screenplay and will also play the mysterious owner of the detective agency Bosley, a role previously played by Bill Murray in 2000 film and Bernie Mac in the 2006 sequel.

No word yet on whether the voice of Charlie who instructs the agents will also be gender-swapped but it's certainly a possibility that Banks will want the head of the agency to be a woman.

The production has long been circling and only now have the trio been confirmed to take on the agents most recently played by Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore.

"Charlie's Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the '70s," Elizabeth Banks told Variety yesterday of the announcement.

"This film honours the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn't be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world."
