Today, the trailer for Amazon's new Matthew Weiner-driven anthology series The Romanoffs dropped, and it looks as high brow and complex as you'd expect from Matthew Weiner. And with it coming from the man who practically invented prestige television, it spares no extravagance. The eight-episode series will focus on eight separate stories of people who believe themselves to be descendants of the famous Russian Romanoff family.

If you watched the trailer and thought, Hey, I know that person, it's because this might be the most stacked cast for a television show in a while. On top of Mad Men alumni John Slattery and Christina Hendricks making appearances, Isabelle Huppert, Aaron Eckhart, Diane Lane, Amanda Peet, Corey Stoll, Andrew Rannells, and Kathryn Hahn also star. And that's just a sampling of the cast.

The series, shot in seven countries across three different continents, is set to release its first two episodes on Friday, 12 October with additional episodes dropping on Fridays for the following six weeks. It's the first weekly anthology venture for Amazon, and with the pedigree and talent attached, it's practically begging for an Emmy nomination. Fingers crossed for a collusion-adjacent episode.
