The popularity of Game of Thrones should be proof enough of the power of genre TV shows these days. Fantasy and sci-fi is an excellent escape from our current dystopian hellscape. So that makes it the perfect time for the great minds behind The Simpsons to take a trip into a fantasy world with the new Netflix series Disenchantment, arriving 17 August.

From Matt Groening, Bill Oakley, and Josh Weinstein, Disenchantment brings us to the "crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where [viewers] will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.," as the plot description reads."

If that doesn't seem exciting enough, the cast includes voices from Abbi Jacobson, Eric Andre, John DiMaggio, Billy West, and Nat Faxon.

The first teaser explains that Groening and Co. have already shown the present with The Simpsons and the future with Futurama, and now it's time to take a trip into the past. And the timing couldn't be better.
