Donald Trump's many and various phone calls are one of the main features of his presidency, whether they're ones where he has terse disagreements with other heads of state, or the ones which he apparently makes up to impress Saturday Night Live comedians.

Now, thanks to New York Magazine, we know a little more about who's calling him. They've identified seven names on Trump's 'cleared list' – that is, the people who can get straight through to the Leader Of The Free World at any time of the day or night without going through the White House switchboard.

Donald Trump Jr

Naturally the next in line to the Trump throne gets a direct line to papa, especially as he's at the head of the Trump Organisation with his brother Eric. As Trump Jr has no official White House role, it's possible they chat about the best way to wind people up on Twitter, which is a gift Trump Jr has clearly inherited from his dad.

Eric Trump

Aside from leading the Trump Organisation with Don Jr, Eric Trump was heavily involved in managing his dad's presidential campaign with brother-in-law Jared Kushner. He's so committed to backing Trump that on top of going out to bat for him on TV and social media, he looks like he's wearing a thick latex mask of his dad's face.

Sean Hannity

Trump and Hannity have been politically close since fanning the flames of the racist 'birther' conspiracy theory against Barack Obama. New York Magazine quotes one White House source as saying that, "Generally, the feeling is that Sean is the leader of the outside kitchen cabinet," and Hannity's influence extends far beyond the Fox television show which Trump reportedly mainlines. Hannity and Trump have regular late-night phone calls, and Hannity has become a sounding board in the absence of Steve 'Two Shirts' Bannon.

The Blackstone Group CEO was pilloried for advising the Trump administration in the aftermath of Charlottesville, and the advisory board of business leaders which he helmed was disbanded after multiple protest resignations. He still has Trump's ear, though.

Rupert Murdoch

He might have described Trump as "a f***ing idiot" over his views on immigration – Murdoch was said to be anxious about the knock-on effect on Silicon Valley in Michael Wolff's Fire And Fury – but there's still a connection between Murdoch and Trump. Indeed, Murdoch is reported to have agitated for the removal of Bannon.

Tom Barrack

Sometime JK Simmons lookalike Barrack helped fundraise for Trump's presidential run, and has been pulled into Robert Mueller's investigation of collusion with Russian state actors during the 2016 election. Like Trump he's a real estate investor and despite being friends for years, Barrack says he has repeatedly told Trump to tone down his rhetoric as it makes him feel uncomfortable.

Despite having been an Obama donor and a Democrat for most of his life, businessman and New England Patriots owner Kraft rallied to Trump in 2016. He donated $1 million to Trump's presidential campaign, and later answered the eternal question of what to get for the man who has everything by sending Trump his Super Bowl ring from the Patriots' 2017 win. Kraft also told New York Daily News that Trump called him once a week for a year to console him over his wife's death.
