Two men who have forsaken playing floppy haired lovers in romantic comedies will team up for a new film directed by Guy Ritchie.

The pair will both appear in Toff Guys, which The Hollywood Reporter says will "explores the collision between European “old money” and the modern marijuana industry." Grant recently appeared in the critically-acclaimed A Very English Scandal, and McConaughey won an Oscar for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club in 2013.

The film "follows a British drug lord attempting to cash in on his highly profitable empire by selling it off to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires."

Grant has just been added to the cast as Fletcher, a British gossip journalist who invades people's private lives. It's a role he'll likely relish given Grant's open disdain for much of the British tabloid press. McConaughey is also set to appear alongside Crazy, Rich Asians lead Henry Golding and Kate Beckinsale.

Their exact roles are unconfirmed but Miramax CEO Bill Block commented, “McConaughey as the inside outsider with Henry and Kate will make for a thrilling Guy Ritchie ride.”

The script has been written by Ritchie and his long-time collaborators Marn Davies and Ivan Atkinson, and is expected to see the British director return to the grittier tone of his earlier films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.

A release date has not yet been announced but production is due to begin before the end of 2019 in England.
