As great as sentient drones and lying robot assistants sound, we think it’s best that Google throws its full weight behind the long-rumoured Pixel watch.

Not just for the future of humanity, of course, but because it sounds like it’s going to give the Apple Watch a real run for its money.

According to tech news leaker Evan Blass, Google will announce a brand new wearable model to coincide with the announcement of the Pixel 3 – and it’ll contain some serious specs.

German technology site Winfuturev has revealed that the watch could be working under three codenames at Google HQ: Ling, Triton and Sardine. It's not known yet whether all three projects will be released.

It will reportedly be powered by the impressive, top-end Qualcomm processor. If the impressive Pixel 2 phone is anything to go by, the Google watch will be cleanly designed and intuitive, with Google Assistant having a big role in proceedings.

It’s expected the model(s) will be announced in October this year. Until then, let the rumours roll.
