Woody Allen is suing Amazon over his now-cancelled A Rainy Day In New York, which starred Timothée Chalamet, Jude Law and Selena Gomez, for north of £50 million.

The film was shelved in the wake of #MeToo and Dylan Farrow's repeated assertions that Allen molested her as a child. The suit - which you can have a read of here - rests on the contention that Amazon knew about what Allen's lawyers describe as "a 25-year old, baseless" accusation that he molested his adopted daughter Farrow in 1992 when it entered into a four-picture funding and distribution deal, and that it "does not provide a basis for Amazon to terminate the contract" retrospectively.

Obviously, the allegations about Allen have been rumbling around for some time and while most people who touched the film have since spent a lot of time distancing themselves from it - Chalamet donated his fee to anti-sexual assault organisation RAINN, and Gomez and co-star Rebecca Hall gave theirs to the #MeToo charity.

Jude Law, at least, has said it was "a terrible shame" that Amazon had apparently thrown A Rainy Day In New York into a quarry and decided to pretend it never happened.
