Hollywood is changing, and so too are its stars. The diverse A-listers of today have redefined red carpet style, which can only be a good thing after decades of the norm. Sometimes, though, it pays to channel the old guard. It's worked for Brad Pitt, and chances are it'll work for you too.

For at the Venice Film Festival of his latest cosmic mystery, Ad Astra, the 55-year-old has done what he's always done: a traditional fail-safe tux, a mop of lengthy hair that's just right, and of course, a mighty watch in tow. Granted, muted classics are always lifted by a face that'd make most people in your emotional and physical vicinity swoon. But if you prefer to drive in neutral gear, Pitt's affinity for old school Hollywood can clinch any man top billing.

It makes sense. For after almost 30 years on the silver screen, Pitt may well stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the future with the Very Famous Men of Hollywood lore: Marlon Brando, James Dean, Cary Grant and so on and so forth. And what unites them? Classic, foolproof menswear that's worked in almost every decade since people actually smoked in cinemas.

Of course, it isn't just a case of taking a deep dive into yet another archival Instagram account and booking some major dental work. The old school kept a focus on fit, as opposed to volume, and the same mantra still applies. Clothes should skim, not suffocate. Cuffs should sit properly. Pounds are always well-spent on alteration.

That's what keeps Pitt in good stead, and if you're more of a traditionalist, it'll serve you well, too. Get started below.
