Yes, The Godfather of Big Hollywood has inflated the red carpet once more on the back of Ad Astra and Once Upon A Time - and he's also doubled down on the Don Corleone credentials.
At a Washington DC screening of his latest intragalactic daddy issue space opera, the 55-year-old stuck to the stuff of yore. Which, of course, means dressed-down, looser tailoring which worked as well in 1999 as it does in 2019. White-under-black remains unchallenged. What kicked it up a notch, however - and what got Pitt cosy with the Cosa Nostra - is the inclusion of one gold sovereign ring. Large. Proud. Designed to be kissed by a legion of sycophantic, terrified wise guys with names like Donny 'Tuna Hands' D'Amico.
For the last couple of years, big and bold golden jewellery has seen something of a renaissance. Whether in necklace form, chain bracelet, or an index cannon to rival Gianni Versace, it's a proven move to upgrade your outfit (and knuckles). Better yet, the spectrum is long and wide. Labels like Alex Orso have long stuck to clean, geometric simplicity, whereas stateside outfits of the Miansai variety can be stacked to pure Vegas loanshark excess.
In Pitt's case, less is more. One single ring is enough to command your newfound New Jersey troops. And, in an age when heavy, statement-laden logomania meets increasingly classic menswear, one glint alone may well strike a happy balance of both. The family business is yours, my son.
