One of the curses of playing the world's most suave and stylish spy is that your OOO outfits are always going to be held up against 007's. Daniel Craig, who hung up his Bond tux in 2021, has always had fun with those shaken-not-stirred suppositions – he turned up to the premiere of No Time to Die in a pink velvet number, after all, and is a fan of Dior's far-from-traditional cross-body tailoring. Last night, he took things one sartorial step further.
Out with his boo Rachel Weiss, Craig’s look harked to an era that can be risky to embrace: the Seventies. Many wince back in horror for its flares and retina-blinding prints; and when done badly, it’s justified. But then there’s the side that doesn’t demand a cringing double-take. Think: double-breasted suits, wide lapels, tinted sunnies, and on the grooming end, some gravity-defying hairstyles – all of which Craig has hit bullseye on. Star-studded charity event or not, this is the look to inspire your ‘fits come party season.

As a red carpet regular, Craig knows his way around a dinner jacket. And while he's partial to one of Kim Jones’ aforementioned Dior suits, he will more likely stick to more classic cuts in a dark colour palette.

Despite attending an event stateside, Craig went full-Brit with his suit choice. There was the bespoke double-breasted dinner suit from Anderson & Sheppard, finished with silk peaked lapels and a Budd London bow tie, and a pair of Crockett & Jones shoes on his feet.
Then to add a touch of Seventies glam, the former Bond put on a pair of yellow-tinted aviators and styled his mop into a high-quiff.
How do I recreate it?
Well, you could visit the century-old Saville Row tailor and ask for what exactly Daniel Craig wore, or you could go for these suits from Kingsman, Giorgio Armani, Gucci or Tom Ford.
Really, it’s all in the details. Opt for a wider than usual lapel, but balance the heavy retro feel with some slim trousers. Then add some tinted aviators, and you’re set.
Mistakes to avoid?
As mentioned, you want to hint to the Seventies without looking like you’re still living in it. But Mr C’s look is ushering in a more playful approach to dressing – the antithesis to Bond’s serious suiting – so feel free to have fun with it, too.
