You might have heard that boat shoes are back for summer 2023, and one of the silhouette's originators has unveiled a new collaboration. Sebago launched its Dockside shoe in 1970 and, a decade later, the style became an Ivy League mainstay thanks to its inclusion in The Official Preppy Handbook.

It makes sense, then, that Sebago has teamed up with Savile Row's very own Drake's for two new takes on the Dockside. The first colourway sees the shoe constructed in navy and white leather, complete with paracord laces, while the second uses a patchwork mix of navy, red and white and is finished with leather laces. Both pairs are packed with other detailing, including hand-stitched eyelets, co-branded insoles and a green and white side tab, inspired by the awning of Drake's shops in London, Seoul and New York.

While the collection builds on Sebago's footwear heritage, it also stems from the memory of Drake's creative director Michael Hill. "I have a deep affinity for Sebago," he said. "In fact, the Dockside is the first shoe that I remember wearing to school, which played a significant role in shaping my view on clothing and style. I've always loved the silhouette and what it represents."

Discussing the design of the collaborative pairs, Hill explained that he wanted to play to Sebago's heritage. "I didn’t want to mess with the magic too much, as it’s such a timeless style. We specifically selected the leathers as I believe they will age beautifully with time and, hopefully, a bit of exposure to some sun and salt water."

The Drake's for Sebago capsule is releasing both online via the Drake's web store and in-store on 8 June.
