Ah, summer: a sea of joyous wedding photo opps in which everyone smiles and drinks and makes inappropriate jokes at a table full of strangers. Well, photos lie. Wedding season is misery - especially if you're without a good suit. So, thank Eddie Redmayne for providing a 'fit befitting of the tiresome, never-ending, comically expensive nuptial window.

At Omega's 'Power Station of Art' exhibition in Shanghai, the 37-year-old wore a suit that's enjoyed a redemption: the linen two-piece. Once decried as something solely for wizened tax dodgers on a Monacan yacht, tighter fits and a more polished finish has put the suit on the ascendance once more. Helps that it's Ralph Lauren Purple Label, too.

The benefits here are twofold. Not only does Redmayne trade off safety-first navy for something more memorable (though no less wearable), the Fantastic Beasts star has some in-built AC: linen. Breathable, lovely, glorious linen that every man can now co-opt. That means less melting during the Bordeaux ceremony that was so graciously paid for on credit by your local good bank.

Indeed, the expenses are totting up. But settle for Redmayne's neutral gear, and you'll ace the cost-per-wear ratio for this wedding season (and probably the next). Almost makes your forced smile for the wedding photos seem genuine.
