Summer is a cruel mistress, particularly during this year of sun-scorched insanity. Worse, it's a tricky time for colourphobes: we're told to embrace prints and pastels as if it's a case of national duty. But what if you just want to wear black? Is it really that great a betrayal of seasonal style diktats?
Not quite, says Ewan McGregor. At the European premiere of his latest flick Christopher Robin, the 47-year-old swerved vibrancy altogether. No loud prints, no ice cream suits, no Tiki-themed gear better-suited to a naff night down a student union. Just strong, simple black in all of its Prince of Darkness glory.
It's a move easily mimicked, too. Lose the socks to gain some breeze and vitamin D down south, and opt for lightweight fabrics throughout: an unlined blazer, a cotton T-shirt and the like. This way, you can halt the colour wheel without suffering like a goth on a sparkly day in Whitby.
