Jake Gyllenhaal no longer plays by the rules. Once a man of red carpet convention (which, by the way, is no bad thing), the 38-year-old is now happy to take risks. Big ones, in fact, including kimono-like jackets and sixties sofa prints from Dries Van Noten. His latest move was no exception.

On the seemingly 9,000th stop of the Spider-Man: Far From Home campaign trail, Gyllenhaal reset the rules once again. Welcome to Dressed-Down Tailoring: Extreme Edition.

In line with the wider appetite for casual, comfier versions of once rigid suits, the Velvet Buzzsaw star managed to relax the game further. In addition to a blazer and T-shirt, Gyllenhaal enlisted the open shirt, too.

While not the most obvious addition (that's a lot of fabric to potentially billow about), the laissez-faire approach to tailoring manages to dress everything down further. Open shirts are more familiar in a summer beer garden as opposed to a press conference in Seoul.

Still, by ensuring the suiting part remains sharp (double-breasted, big peak lapels etc), and contrasting with the ultimate in casual below, Gyllenhaal has made classic tailoring weekend appropriate. Red carpets begone.
