Boglioli has been the best-kept secret of menswear mavens for a long time. Founded in 1974 by Mario Boglioli, alongside his brother, Pierluigi, the Italian family-run business is recognised by the in-the-know as a go-to for soft tailoring.

But from today we must learn to share as Barcelona-born shopping centre cornerstone Mango is connecting the high-end marque with the masses via the release of the very nice, modestly priced Mango designed by Boglioli collection.

The line – Mango's first-ever menswear collaboration – hones in on the quintessential Boglioli offering: the tailored jacket. Using wool and flannel fabrics of hues of brown, green and grey, the lauded label interprets its enduring silhouette in eight different ways for the Mango customer.

And each rendition, whether patterned or plain, takes the name of an Italian city.

There’s Cremona, Como, Mantova, Monza, Lodi, Lecco, Brescia, Como and, of course, Milano – the fashion capital where Boglioli's showroom is situated, and where industry insiders gathered last night to celebrate the launch of the alliance.

Suitably, the Catalonian clothing manufacturer has prioritised Italian materials and European workshops to form each Boglioli-designed offering.

In addition to uniting the sartorial spirit of two European regions – “We wanted to combine the Italian tradition of [...] Boglioli with the contemporary character of Barcelona,” says Roberto Pastore, Creative Director of Mango Man – the collection exists to shift contemporary perspectives of tailored pieces.

Thus, the octet of layers that emerge from the link-up have been meticulously made with everyday outings, trips into the office and relaxed affairs in mind.

“[It’s] tradition combined with innovation, creativity [and] casual elegance,” says Francesco Rosso, CEO of Boglioli.

Like what you see? Well, you'll be glad to know that this eight-piece drop only marks the beginning. “In order to [...] continue working on our shared values, a capsule collection jointly developed by both teams will be launched in 2024,” says Pastore.

Rosso, Pastore, if you're reading: some co-ord trousers next time, per favore, and por favor. Some of us have Mediterranean weddings next summer to think of.

The Mango designed by Boglioli collection is now available on the Mango webstore and in select Mango stores across Europe and the United States. Each jacket is priced at £299.99.
