Decking out a British actor in Prada is always a good idea. Whether that be Tom Holland clad in minimalist attire in the brand’s SS22 campaign or Daniel Kaluuya sporting a statement – and we mean statement – mohair-trimmed coat at the 75th British Academy Film Awards, it just works. And the latest British trouper to join the Prada pantheon just so happens to be our latest cover star, Matt Smith.

Last night, the Northampton-born actor attended the UK premiere of House of the Dragon – HBO’s long-awaited Game of Thrones prequel in which he plays a platinum blonde evil prince (what a gig) – in a sharp black mohair and faille double-breasted suit from the Italian marque. Styled by Rose Ford, Smith wore the two-piece with a white poplin shirt, slim black tie, silver chain, a pair of square-toe black brushed boots and a slicked-back mobster hairstyle, delivering a masterclass in flexing a classic suit with contemporary flair.

Just a few weeks ago, the former Doctor Who actor went totally tonal – popping up at a handful of events, from Wimbledon to the US premiere of House of the Dragon, dressed head to toe in one-shade looks from the likes of Paul Smith to Ralph Lauren. Needless to say, the suited and booted Prada fit marks another triumph for a man who's clearly experimenting with his style. Makes a change from battle armour and blood-soaked wigs, thats for sure.
