Italian architect Andrea Tognon comes from a long line of creatives and artisans. An eye for elegant design is in his blood. You can see this in everything from the sketches on the walls of his Milanese workshop to the effortlessly stylish Italian-made clothes he chooses to dress in – clothes expertly designed, cut and sewn by luxury lifestyle brand Pal Zileri.

Tognon is one of four new faces fronting the Italian label’s latest campaign, which accompanies this year’s Autumn/Winter collection. Alongside him, mononymous London-based musician Alexander, stylish banking student Tommaso Vignati and French pastry chef Baptiste Fache appear in immaculately cut tailoring and effortlessly sophisticated casualwear, including sharp double-breasted blazers, autumnal-toned knitwear and fitted outerwear.

It’s this type of relaxed, understated luxury that Pal Zileri has come to be known for. Born in Northern Italy almost half a century ago, the label embodies the idea of the ‘effortless man’ – the type of man who always looks immaculately put together, yet never appears to have thought all that much about it. He chooses his clothes for their quality, build and comfort first and foremost, but understands what looks good and knows how to express his personal style through his wardrobe.

Pal Zileri’s garments act as vehicles for this aesthetic. They’re cut from fine fabrics and artisanally crafted, but they don’t shout about it. These are quietly refined clothes that let their fit, quality and character speak for themselves, and the new Autumn/Winter collection is no different. There are chunky textured sweaters, sumptuous leather jackets in cropped modern fits, fine-gauge knits for cold-weather layering, and Pal Zileri’s speciality: elegant tailored jackets, ranging from sleek single-breasted styles to more formal double-breasted options, including one in the label’s signature laguna verde colour.

The collection is versatile, timeless and ageless, as demonstrated perfectly by the four faces of the campaign. These men are at different stages in life, living different experiences, but they can all relate to the clothes and wear them in a way that is authentic to their individual sense of style.

London-based musician Alexander, for example, spends much of his time in the studio or on stage. He has an edginess to his personal style that he might express with something like a leather jacket or two. But there’s also a sophisticated element to his look that’s communicated through his use of Pal Zileri’s plush, textured tailoring.

In contrast, French pastry chef Baptiste Fache lives and works in Lille. He likes to blend his homeland’s trademark sartorial sophistication with preppy elements – perhaps teaming a rollneck with a blazer, or a knitted polo with a classic peacoat.

Incorporating upscale casual garments and louche tailored pieces, Pal Zileri’s new collection has a versatility that allows it to be remixed and reconstructed in this way to create all manner of effortlessly stylish looks. This is luxurious, Italian-made clothing all stylish men can embrace, regardless of age or lifestyle, bringing the concept of the ‘effortless man’ to all wardrobes.
