In playing an inflated, self-aggrandised version of himself earlier this year on Jury Duty, James Marsden established one thing: That he's better than us. On the show, his "character" attempted to learn to be the everyman, but his actorly acclaims and supersized ego simply wouldn't allow ithe couldn't relate to the public. I know that Jury Duty is (partially) fiction, though, because yesterday, Marsden was roaming around New York in the ultimate everyman shoe: New Balance 327s.

Not every New Balance sneaker has universal appeal, but these sure do. They aren't exclusively for athletes, nor are they just for sneakerheads. They stylishly walk the line between a casual sneaker and a trendy "dad shoe," with their large N logo on the sides, a slim silhouette, and not-too-thick rubber sole. It's no wonder they're an actor's street style sneaker of choice; it's impossible to say anything bad about 'em, and they go with just about every outfit, so you're clear of a styling faux pas (although, if you're James Marsden, you could get away with wearing plastic bags on your feet and still look good).

There are no rules to what you can or can't wear your 327s with, but with options so wide-ranging and varying, we'll give you a few places where you can start. If you're feeling a little Marsden-y, you can style them as he did, with black drawstring trousers, a classic white tee, and a cool, casual jacket. Hat and sunnies optional, but they certainly add to the celebrity-being-papped vibe.
