Come on, being on the campaign trail for a film as big as the Uncharted adaptation must be so incredibly dull. There was Tom Holland, sat on The One Show, TV's equivalent of a microwave toad in the hole, trying (and succeeding) to feign excitement about something that began filming in 2020. God bless the months-long media circus. So where does one find an upper in these such circumstances? Holland popped his knitwear.

And from the back!

Because trip knits, a phenomenon in which really mad jumpers transported the wearer to an opium den in South Goa during the saddened lockdown times, are still trippin'. They're quieter this time though. Rather than go full Casablanca, galleon-captained-by-a-crew-of-anthropomorphic-dalmations-on-a-sea-of-rainbows mad, Holland's sweater is just a little bit mad, and from Berluti. It's mostly blue, which makes it wearable. But the madness comes in a graphic rehash of what could be tulips, or artwork, or just weird shapes. Bang it on top of a crisp white shirt and some black jeans, and it's an achievable balance.

It's also more evidence that Very Famous Men are getting it just right. Where so many big actors went for fine but largely forgettable menswear (the CRAFT speaks for itself, stupid!), others wade deep into the left-field. Which is truly darling to see. It is refreshing, too. But for style that we can take into real life, beyond red carpets, beyond late night shows where everyone makes you feel like the funniest man on earth, there's a tightrope to be walked. Plus, most of us are without the innate, unnerving confidence of Hollywood. If you feel a bit silly wearing a nuclear green two-piece, chances are you'll look a bit silly.

Holland does not look silly. The balancing act has been nailed, the sweater works, Twitter, as usual, erupts into a series of really quite filthy statements about the incumbent Spider-Man. And The One Show is still so very boring. The weirdly good knitwear of Tom Holland, less so.
