Maier is known for his namesake brand's roots in beachwear, and the casual (and impeccably tailored) style it has evolved into. He's also the creative director of Bottega Veneta (nbd), which rounds out his portfolio of deep fashion experience—exactly what he's bringing to this new collection with Uniqlo.

“The concept of my brand is based on simple, yet sophisticated designs," Maier said in a statement. "Tomas Maier is all about clothes for time off—a way for people to enjoy a much-needed escape from some of the complexities of modern living. I am confident that we were able to incorporate Uniqlo's remarkable technologies and expertise successfully into our collaboration line, which I hope can help people to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.”

The collection will be tied to Uniqlo's LifeWear philosophy, which holds that it's the person, not the clothes, that makes something truly stylish. There will be options for women and men, and it will be available at Uniqlo stores worldwide and online in early summer. You can see a sneak peek of the goods in Unilqo's Instagram video, but we'll be on the lookout for more images. In the meantime, we'll just stock up on other Uniqlo favourites. Win win.
