It’s Super Blue Moon Day! And whilst the astrologists et al. huddle together to collectively recharge their stones or whatever, style mavens (like us) – along with the clout chasers (boo!) and the resellers (double boo!) – plan to patiently queue outside a Swatch store in one of 86 cities (including three in Britain which we list below) in hopes of securing a watch that’s about as rare as the day’s natural phenomenon.

That watch is the aptly blue, and probably very you (it’s so very easy to love!), ‘Mission to Moonshine Gold – Neptune’ MoonSwatch. A limited-run timepiece we’re sure to be crowning the affordable watch of the year come December.

Save for the seconds hand crafted from Omega's Moonshine Gold (a pale gold alloy that purportedly captures the colour of moonlight), the 'Mission to Moonshine Gold – Neptune’ is identical to the ‘Mission to Neptune' MoonSwatch.

For MoonSwatch newbies, that’s the buzziest of the 11 OG Omega x Swatch glow-in-the-dark bioceramic offerings; a blue and black watch that has hit headlines twice: firstly in April ‘22 when wearers discovered it deposited a blue stain on their wrists (production was swiftly halted and the style became super scarce), and once again in January ‘23 when Daniel Craig rocked the watch at the National Board of Review 2023 Awards Gala. Thus, we expect demand for today's launch to be stratospheric.

The ‘Mission to Moonshine Gold – Neptune’ is the sixth 'Mission to Moonshine Gold' MoonSwatch to drop this year, following ‘Swiss Lantern’, ‘Strawberry Moon’, ‘Flower Moon’, ‘Pink Full Moon’ and ‘Gold’.

Each comes packaged inside a black and gold ‘Mission to the Moon’ watch box and is accompanied by a certificate that states that the gold seconds hand was produced on the day of a full moon – in the case of the ‘Neptune’ release, on Tuesday 1 August. With that in mind, perhaps the astrologists will be joining us in line after all.
