Michael Fassbender Does A Lot Of Assassinating In New 'Assassin's Creed' Trailer

Could this be a video game adaption that isn't terrible?

Cinematic history is littered with well-meaning but unquestionably terrible video game adaptations, but Assassin's Creed, with the help of Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, could be set to make a slight dent in the usual narrative, at least if the new trailer is anything to go by.

In the newly-released clip, we get a glimpse into the life of Fassbender's character Callum Lynch, a convict who is recruited by a mysterious agency wishing to tap into the hidden memories of his ancestor, and have him fight in the Spanish inquisition.

If that sounds confusing, because it is, take a look at the trailer below.

Set for release in December, the film comes with actual pedigree in the form of Macbeth director Justin Kurzel, as well as roles for Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson.

We're still not getting our hopes up too much, but the trailer does look like quite good fun.
