"Noel said he wanted it to be a call to arms to a new generation. Because everything in music feels beige now."
This was how director Mat Whitecross described the aim of Oasis film Supersonic when speaking at the Esquire Townhouse last October.
The documentary was only released in 2016 and already whispers of a sequel are circulating, likely due to its critical success and the rumours that the brothers may still be reuniting some day...
Whilst on stage to accept the Empire Award for Best Documentary, Whitecross revealed there's some mileage left in the story saying, "Liam and Noel Gallagher were really generous. Everything we asked for they gave us."
"Liam said he wants to make a sequel" he added. "I don't know if he was joking or not. Actually, after we cut at Knebworth, Liam and Noel both actually said they wanted to carry on."
With the film's cliffhanger ending at their infamous concert there's still a lot of untrodden ground over the unravelling band that diehard fans would be only too happy to watch - or could it be sign they actually are getting back together?
