There are candles, red doors, a mysterious virus, forests, suspicion, nocturnal terrors, guns, claustrophobia, dogs and gas masks; if its latest trailer is anything to go by It Comes at Night might just be that rarest of cinematic beasts: a modern horror film that isn't total s**t.
After a teaser trailer that had fans of the genre counting down the days until its 9 June release, we've now been treated to an extended look at what's being hailed as the scariest film of the year, with a synopsis that reads.
"Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, the tenuous domestic order a man has established with his wife and son is put to the ultimate test with the arrival of a desperate young family seeking refuge. Despite the best intentions of both families, paranoia and mistrust boil over as the horrors outside creep ever-closer, awakening something hidden and monstrous within him as he learns that the protection of his family comes at the cost of his soul."
Here we go, here we go, here we go.
