For a guy who had just nine pieces of dialogue in Rocky IV, Ivan Drago is still one of the most memorable bad guys in movie history, so fans will be pleased to hear that the jacked-up, taciturn Soviet war machine is confirmed to return in the next Creed film.
Sharing the news on Instagram this weekend, Sylvester Stallone posted up a photo of the completed script for Creed 2, with Drago's name appearing in the hashtags beneath the caption.
How Millennial of you, Sly.
Far exceeding expectations when it was released in 2015, Creed rejuvenated a beloved franchise laying dormant and was one of the best boxing movies in recent memory. Competition that isn't exactly fierce, but The Fighter and Southpaw were both pretty good, weren't they?
It remains to be seen whether 59-year-old Dolph Lundgren will be creaking out of retirement to reprise the role of Drago, or if the big greased-up Russian is, like Apollo Creed, is due a younger update and backstory.
As long as there's plenty of this...
Then we don't care who picks up the gloves.
Just make it good, Sly. We believe in you.
