First Look - Paul

A marriage of comedy genii from across the pond, “Paul” starring Esquire favourites Simon Pegg and Nick Frost promises to be an all-singing, all-dancing Shaun of the Dead remake. Only with aliens instead of zombies. Oh, and the object of the pair’s affections is no longer Kate Ashfield, rather Superbad star, Seth Rogan.

Intrigued? Well, the film sees Pegg and Frost take centre stage as sci-fi geeks on the road to Area 51. So far so them. That is until they stumble across runaway Rogan - in the guise of a small alien on the run from the cops. And so starts a hapless comedy alien road-movie.

Directed by Superbad’s Greg Mottola, and written by Pegg and Frost, a surprise turn from Sigourney Weaver completes Paul’s sci-fi credentials. We’re not saying it’s going to be great, but with Frost, Pegg and Rogan at the helm, it can’t be half bad.

Paul goes on general UK release February 18 2011
