Film Style

Up

Style inspiration can come from just about anywhere. Yes, even a Pixar film.

Specifically, the outfits at the start of the film caught our eye, perfectly on trend for this winter.

The shearling lined jacket is something that designers have been making for a few seasons now, with varying success. They've either been too cartoonishly large - leaving the wearer looking like they've stolen their big brothers jacket - or they've gone the cheap route and used bog standard shearling. Either way, it's never really looked right until now.

One man who did pull off the look was Charles Muntz, the adventurer featured at the start of Up. His flight jacket, roll neck jumper and trousers is an outfit that should look cliched, but manages to look stylish.

You might need a handlebar moustache to be able to pull off everything at once, but a brown shearling lined jacket over a toned down outfit is a perfect weekend outfit. Instead of the roll neck, try a crew neck jumper and instead of the trousers, put on your favourite indigo denim.

As for the jacket itself, Bleu De Paname have made an excellent and affordable version in both navy and tan (£199, End). Made in France, it'll add a touch of class to any outfit. Add an adorable cartoon dog to complete the effect.
