After perhaps its most dynamic season yet, Game Of Thrones is about to end for another year when the season 4 finale airs on Monday.

With showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss promising “the best finale we’ve ever done, bar none” expectations are rightly high for the extended 66-minute episode.

A teaser trailer has promised the long-awaited return of Daenerys’ dragons, Arya and The Hound preparing for combat and Jon Snow succeeding in meeting up with Wildling leader Mance Rayder north of The Wall.

As with any season finale, a long list of obvious questions remains: did the Mountain survive his run in with Oberyn Martell? Will Tyrion manage to escape his death sentence? And who sent Ser Jorah’s Royal Pardon to Meereen? (We’re looking at you, Varys).

But in a series with so many characters and plotlines, there are other, almost forgotten issues we want resolved. Here they are.

1 | Where’s Gendry?

At one point it seemed the bastard child of Robert Baratheon would become romantically linked with Arya. However, since encountering the Brotherhood Without Banners in season 3, their story arcs have taken a different path.

Last seen sailing away from Dragonstone after being freed by Ser Davos Seaworth, Gendry’s whereabouts remain unknown.

2 | Is Stannis still planning to save The North?

In the season 3 finale, Stannis reads a letter from the Night’s Watch, pertaining to the various threats from north of The Wall. It is then decided that only Stannis can save The North.

However, in season 4 Stannis seems to have reverted to his original plan of taking on King’s Landing and claiming the Iron Throne.

Will the newly-awarded loan from The Iron Bank of Braavos be used to head north or south?

3 | Where is Rickon Stark?

The last time we saw the younger Stark brother was in the ninth episode of season 3 - The Rains Of Castamere - when Wildling Osha promised Bran that she would take his brother to the safety of Last Hearth.

Neither character has been seen since.

Will the final episode show Rickon and Osha meeting up with Westeros’ other travelling duos, the Hound and Arya or Brienne and Podrick?

4 | What are the White Walkers doing with the babies?

After a brief glimpse of a White Walker performing some sort of magic on a baby boy, the White Walkers fell to the background in favour of the Wildling horde as the main threat from beyond the Wall this season.

Will the finale see the Night’s Watch join forces with the Wildlings? And how will the White Walkers find newborn children now Craster’s Keep has been destroyed?

5|  What's going on at Winterfell?

In season 3 the Stark’s home was destroyed, depriving the surviving children of a home and forcing them to travel Westeros.

However, with the Boltons and Reek currently en route, is the city completely ruined, or is there something there, as hinted by its continued appearance in the opening credit sequence?

Game Of Thrones season finale airs on Sky Atlantic on Monday 16th June
