Crowe and Gosling To Team Up For Cop Drama

"Nice Guys" follows a murder-mystery in 1970's L.A and it's shaping up to be pretty great

Internet meme sensation Ryan Gosling and religious ark enthusiast Russell Crowe have both signed on board new police drama “The Nice Guys” and it all sounds pretty exciting.

Hollywood insider The Wrap reports that the script, set in smoggy 1970’s Los Angeles, focuses on two men – a muscle for hire and a private detective – who are brought together by the suicide of a fading porn star.

What follows is the unraveling of a criminal conspiracy as it’s revealed the woman was seen alive and well after the highly-publicised incident.

It all sounds very True Detective; smoggy shades of film-noir, bleak and amoral, with two male leads thrust together to solve a vexing problem.

Expect drinking on the job and lingering drags on cigarettes.

More exciting still, Iron Man 3 director Shane Black is helming the project and it’s being produced by Joel Silver. The pair worked on the Lethal Weapon franchise 30 years ago.

It’s going to be interesting to see the dynamic between Gosling and Crowe, who on paper feel like a bit of an odd couple. Just as long as Crowe doesn’t adopt his infamous Irish accent again, this could be one to watch.
