Tom Hardy: Yet Another Reason Why He's Quickly Becoming Our Favourite Actor

The man formerly known as "Bane" has created a brand new historical drama, just to star alongside his dad

If Tom Hardy’s recent film output (and his US Esquire cover interview) haven’t convinced you of the man’s greatness, his latest project, the BBC period drama in which he stars alongside his dad, should seal the deal.

Set in 1813, new eight-part drama Taboo will see Hardy Jr star as an adventurer who returns from an expedition in Africa to establish a shipping empire, while also hunting down his father’s killers.

Ridley Scott is in the producer’s seat alongside Hardy’s own production company "Hardy Son & Baker", with Locke and Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight on script duties.

Best of all is the news that Hardy’s father, (the incredibly-named) Edward "Chips" Hardy, co-developed the series and will star alongside his son until, presumably, his gruesome on-screen death.

Taboo will be released on BBC and FX in 2016
