Behind The Scenes At The Cannes Film Festival

Models, selfies and Tom Hardy eating breakfast

For a film festival, there doesn't seem to be a lot of film-watching going on in Cannes. Instead, all who annually venture to the French Riviera seem they'd rather bask in the sunshine while partying with Karlie Kloss and drinking copious amounts of vodka.

So for all those fretting about not being there to walk the Croisette, guzzle the champers, chill with the big dogs or – you know, see the films – we've gone beyond the call of duty so you'll no longer feel like you're missing out.

By that, we mean we've had a browse on Instagram.

Tom Hardy enjoyed a late breakfast the afternoon after Mad Max: Fury Road's European premiere which kick-started the festival in frenzied style last Thursday. We're guessing it was a late one then, 'ay Tom?

British rising star Jack O'Connell got a tad bolshy with the bannister on his way to the prestigious Charles Finch Filmmakers Dinner. If there's one trick of the acting trade Jack's picked up, it's how to make an entrance.

Karlie Kloss used the fact she's a L'Oréal Paris spokeswoman to get a cheeky red carpet snap with reigining Best Actress champ – and fellow L'Oréal spokeswoman – Julianne Moore. To be fair, if we repped L'Oréal Paris alongside Jules, we'd have done the same.

Both Benicio del Toro and Catherine Deneuve attended the prestigious Charles Finch Filmmakers Dinner, however Benicio – star of Denis Villeneuve's Sicario – wasn't too impressed when a particular British upstart made an entrance by sliding down a bannister. Here's looking at you, O'Connell.

Ever wondered what it'd be like to attend a Cannes premiere? Well, now you can continue to wonder while looking at a photo of one. The premiere in question was for Woody Allen's An Irrational Man which debuted to mixed reviews.

Jessica Lowndes had absolutely nothing to promote at Cannes so naturally here she is, posing with purpose anyway. Go see a film, Jess.

This is Natalie Portman taking a well-earned break after a lengthy press day for her directorial debut A Tale of Love and Darkness and definitely not an excuse to stage a really cool Instagram video.

If Cannes inducted an award for Best Selfie, we're pretty damn sure Salma Hayek would not be the recipient. But at least the Tale of Tale's actress seems to know that.

Meanwhile, here's Eva Longoria submitting what we can only assume is a late entry into the Short Film category. We don't really fancy her chances.

When we said 'copious amounts of vodka', we meant it.

Kelly Brook "photobombed" Kendall Jenner and German fashion designer Karl Lagerfield on the red carpet. Despite needing to up her photobombing game – technically, this is a selfie – we're just happy she's having a great time.

Jourdan Dunn hit up the amFAR Gala (The Foundation for AIDS Research) and treated her Instagram followers to this pre-event snap. We just hope she's planning on clearing that mess up before check-out.
