DiCaprio's Against Everyone (Plus A Bear) In The Revenant Trailer

No laughs to be had here

If it's not already, The Revenant is one film that should probably be on your radar.

Not only is it the new film from Birdman director – and reigning Oscar champ – Alejandro González Iñárritu, but the film's two leads are Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, two of cinema's most current compelling actors.

You can watch the trailer below:

Set in the 1820s, the film – adapted from Michael Punke's 2003 novel, itself based on real events – follows frontiersman Hugh Glass who seeks vengenace against the people who leave him for dead after he's mauled by a bear. Cheery, then.

The wider cast, including Will Poulter, Lukas Haas and Britain's Hugh Grant-replacement Domhnall Gleeson, are glimpsed here for the first time too. As is the bear – spoiler: it doesn't look happy.

The Revenant is released on 15 January
