Despicable Dick and Righteous Richard

If you're stuck for something worthwhile to watch on Monday then you should put a reminder on for BBC4 documentary Despicable Dick and Righteous Richard.

If we had to describe Despicable Dick in one sentence, we'd say it's a filmed version of the eighth and nine step in the twelve step program (Step 8 is "Make a list of all persons we had harmed, and become willing to make amends to them all" and step 9 is "Make direct amends to such people wherever possible", since you asked).

It follows Dick Kuchera, a recovering alcoholic who's lived up to his name for most of his life. Without going into specifics, lets just say that if Dick passed away soon, he'd be referred to as a 'loveable rogue'. He's still a funny guy, frequently showing what made these people like him in the first place. It's a worthwhile watch for a monday evening, even though it'll make you think twice about that third pint.

BBC Four, Monday 9 January, 10pm
