There's nothing like a good old fashioned conspiracy film and thanks to Oliver Stone we're going to get one on our big screen this year. The Oscar winner isn't shy of creating a great thought provoking political thriller as seen through his previous works including JFKNixon and Comandante.

Based on the books, The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays whistleblower Edward Snowden, A National Security Agency employee disgruntled how his employer is 'snooping' on the public eventually leading to one of the biggest leaks of classified information ever.

The topic of the film has really hit a cord with Gordon-Levitt, who recently revealed he will be donating his entire salary for the film to fund a project about the connections between technology and democracy. During filming of Snowden, he asked the public to submit videos on the topic and will use them to create a short documentary through his production company hitRECord.

Snowden is out in the US 16 Sept with a UK release date yet to be announced.

The popcorn is on standby.
