You want to leave an impression on your date, you don't want to leave her in a cloud of white musk. We asked Jacques Cavallier, master parfumer for Armani, for the do's and don'ts of wearing fragrance.
If you want to seduce a woman, a perfume has to be fresh; it’s the first law of men’s fragrances. You want to have waves of freshness coming from you, otherwise the fragrance risks being too heavy. Women expect something light, and they like the smell of cleanliness: it reminds them of their fathers’ shaving foam which often contained fougère, a perfume group including lavender, geranium, vetiver and patchouli.
The most common mistake men make is wearing too much perfume and only on one area. First shower, then while dressing, spray the fragrance onto your chest when your are still nude, then put on your shirt and apply to the neck and shoulders. This helps the fragrance disperse as you walk. If you think you’ll be having sex, you could perfume other parts of your body, too (Christ, no! — Ed).
Smell good, feel good
It’s important to feel good for a date, and Armani Code is an ideal scent for this. It’s a sensual fragrance with the crispness of the mint and the warm, woody tones of vetiver and amber, which is suitable as a morning and evening fragrance as well as for special occasions.
