Sadiq Khan Is Hiring A 'Czar' To Sort Out London's Nightlife

The role is for shaping London as a 24-hour city

Having pushed through the 24 hour tube service and lovingly declared 'London is open', softly spoken, cool dad, man-of-the-people Sadiq Khan's next venture is to protect the capital's cultural cornerstones and make it work as a 24-hour city.

To help with the job, The Mayor's office are hiring a Night Czar who will, "Champion the values of the values of London's night time culture whilst developing and diversifying London's night time economy."

The role wants a candidate to 'Create a vision for London as 24-hour city and a roadmap showing how the vision will be realised,' which sounds pretty sweet for  £35,000 a year  and 2.5 days a week of work.

Unfortunately London's nightlife scene is in hot water after numerous closures including Shapes in Hackney, Dance Tunnel in Dalston and Passing Clouds in Haggerston amongst others. International electronic music destination Fabric is currently in danger of having its license revoked which Khan is trying to fight against.
